Why to pay extra if you have choice to get exact sizes and wall thickness in DIN 1.4539 schedule 40 Rectangular and Square pipe

While most stainless steels demonstrate resistance to varying concentrations of sulfuric acid, alloy 904L proves to be the most resilient of them. And therefore, most manufacturers recommend the use of grade  904L Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe for applications that specifically use sulfuric acid or in those applications where sulfuric acid is a by-product. Sulfuric acid is a highly corrosive solution, and in higher concentrations, causes materials to disintegrate. And so, using a resilient material like ASTM B673 UNS N08904 ERW Pipe befits these applications. Since copper is an addition to the alloy, the resistance to sulfuric acid has been attributed as a factor.

Copper also gives the UNS N08904 schedule 40 pipe resistance to sodium chloride present in marine environments, making it ideal for engineering purposes. The ASTM A312 tp 904L material is labeled as a super austenitic stainless steel alloy because of its corrosion resistance properties. Because the alloy has a higher content of molybdenum in its alloy, the ASME SB677 TP 904L Square Pipe exhibits superior resistance to localized attack, specifically from corrosion forms like pitting and crevice corrosion. The presence of chlorides and some reductive acids are conducive to pitting and crevice corrosion in conventional alloys, unlike the Stainless Steel 904L Seamless Pipe, which is a more resilient grade. 

With respect to its weldability, the alloy has a lower content of carbon, thereby making it easier to manufacture an ASTM A312 tp 904L Welded Pipe. Problems associated with welding such as intergranular corrosion are absent in the material because the lower content of carbon discourages the formation of carbide precipitates on the DIN 1.4539 Rectangular Pipe.
