Grade B6x is synonymous with alloy 410 stainless steels, or it may be referred to as S41000 by its UNS designation. Essentially, the ASTM A193 Grade B6x Stud bolts are produced from martensitic steel, 410. The main reason for employing alloy 410 in industries is to benefit from its mechanical properties including high hardness and high tensile strength exhibited by the ASTM A193 B6x Threaded Rod. The alloy has a chromium percentage of about 12%, with inclusions such as phosphorous, manganese, silicon, sulfur, carbon, and nickel added in trace quantities in the ASTM A193 Grade B6x Hex Bolt.
Because the percentage of chromium is high in this stainless steel material, the corrosion resistance property of the Sa 193 Gr B6x fasteners are adequate, such that they could prove useful in general purpose applications. Though the mild corrosion resistance properties of the alloy could suffice these applications, treating the ASTM A193 Grade B6x Bolts to processes like hardening, tempering, and polishing furthers the resistance of the alloy to corrosion.
In comparison to regular austenitic stainless steels, the corrosion resistance of the B6x Material is lower. And since chromium is the primary alloyant here, with the other elements becoming the secondary alloyants, the A193 B6x Bolt can stand higher temperatures. Moreover, despite being exposed to weak or diluted acidic solutions such as acetic acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and naptha the B6x Bolt delivers a good performance.
