Both alloy 600 and alloy 601 are corrosion resistant alloys that deliver high performance across several media. While the chemistry of both includes a nickel-chromium base, the ASTM B516 UNS N06601 Welded Tube includes the addition of aluminum in its alloy. The chemistry of both these alloys permits the material to offer resistance to numerous forms of corrosion and oxidization, especially those that occur at high-temperature.

Generally, high temperatures accelerate the rate of corrosion in several conventional alloys. However, in the case of alloy, the addition of aluminum permits the alloy grade 601 ASME SB516 Tube to illustrate high mechanical properties even if the material has been exposed to extremely hot environments. The alloy for Inconel 601 ASTM B516 Tubing exhibits good resistance to aqueous corrosion as well. In addition to having high tensile strength, the ASTM B516 Inconel 600/601 Welded Tube is also able to resist chloride ion stress related corrosion cracking, especially since several conventional stainless steel alloys that tend to fail in the presence of chloride ions. However, one of the most important characteristics of ASME SB 516 UNS N06600 Tubing is its resistance to good creep rupture strength, the ASTM B516 Welded Tube is also highly resistant to carburization.
