Inconel 600 is one of the most popular nickel alloys, and its employment is often seen in industries, where sustenance to high temperature is a must. Furthermore, the ASME SB 517 Alloy 600 Welded pipe exhibits excellent corrosion resistance properties, especially if the alloy is exposed to elevated temperatures. As with specification ASTM B517, a welding method used to weld the astm b517 tube must be an automatic one, without any use of filler metal.
Before conducting a final heat treatment on the metal, the specification calls for the ASME SB 517 UNS N06600 Pipe to be cold worked. Cold working the component is a practice using either the weld metal or by the use of both the weld as well as the base metal. Since the ASTM B517 Welded Pipe is furnished in a scale free finish, it is not required that they be descaled if bright annealing is to be the procedure followed.
Along with conforming to the requirements of the specification with regards to the chemical composition, the ASTM B517 Inconel 600 Welded Pipe must conform to the prescribed requirements of the mechanical properties as well including yield and tensile strength and elongation value. Tests carried out on the ASTM B517 Tubing material include a flattening test and transverse guided bend test along with a nondestructive test.
