Hex bolts are six sided hexagonal fasteners, which are available in various designs, including a flange type or a socket type. The metric designation of an M6 Hex Bolt indicates that its diameter is about 6mm. Available in various m6 hex bolt dimensions, these fasteners may be produced in various materials ranging from stainless steel to carbon steel, alloy steel, etc. While the m6 hex bolt head is indicative of the shape of its top or head, their functionality separates the other varieties.

For instance, an m6 hex flange bolt is used in applications where the combination of a hex bolt and a washer may be replaced by the former.
