Although stainless steel 310 is an austenitic alloy, its ductility is lower than in grade 304. But by virtue of its chemical composition, the properties inherited by the Stainless Steel 310 Seamless Pipe include superior hardenability, wear resistance as well as corrosion resistance. The contents of both nickel and chromium in the 310h Stainless Steel Welded Pipe are significantly higher as well. Being a medium carbon-containing alloy, most grade 310 Stainless Steel Pipe Manufacturers across the world recommend dual certification as 310s/310h because most of their chemistry remains the same, with alterations occurring only with respect to the carbon atoms.
The low carbon version of SS 310 Seamless Pipe is 310S, and the high carbon version is 310H. Specification ASTM A312 includes austenitic alloys such as Aisi 310s Welded Pipe, particularly because they are ideal for high-temperature environments. With a higher amount of nickel in its alloy, the Asme Sa 312 Grade 310s/ 310h Square Pipe delivers a good performance in conditions where the operational temperatures range up to 1150°C in continuous service. As is the case with alloys containing chromium content of more than 20%, the Astm A312 Tp 310 Erw Pipe delays the onset of corrosion caused due to oxidation.
Yet, industries that reap the benefits of the Uns S31008 Schedule 40 Pipe include applications where reducing sulfur atmospheres are common. Such atmospheres often contain H2S, or what is known as hydrogen sulfide gas. This gas is highly corrosive and so many manufacturers recommend using the Din 1.4845 Rectangular Pipe, as they are resilient to reducing sulfur atmospheres.
