Characteristically stainless steel alloy 316, is referred to as a marine grade material. Seawater ordinarily contains about 3.5% sodium chloride. Sodium chloride or brine solutions, over time cause metals, to corrode, unlike the 316Ti Stainless Steel Seamless Tubes, which have strong corrosion resistance properties. Along with its use in marine engineering, the material proves to be a good match for both the pharma and the food & beverage industry for several reasons. Firstly, these industries make use of acids such as ascorbic or folic acid in large batches. Hence, the material to handle such acids needs to be sanitary.

Moreover, the content of Nickel in the alloy also provides corrosion resistance. Nickel in the ASTM A249 TP 316Ti Welded Tube is known to increase the strength of the material as well as the toughness, at both high & low temperatures. Nickel also effectively lowers the effects of work hardening in the alloy.
