Heat-resisting alloy, Grade 321 belongs to the austenitic class of stainless steel. The chemistry of both stainless steel grade 304 and Stainless Steel 321 Seamless Pipe are similar. The dissimilarity between them lies in the fact that grade 321 has approximately five times more titanium than the content of carbon in alloy 304. By adding titanium to the alloy, the rate of carbide precipitation in ASTM A312 TP 321 ERW Pipe effectively diminishes, especially during welding operations.
Moreover, the rate of decay in the alloy is also reduced even if the SS 321 Welded Pipe has been exposed to a temperature range as high as 800°F to 1500°F. Like most austenitic stainless steel alloys belonging to the 300 series, the content of carbon in the alloy of a UNS S32100 schedule 40 pipe could be increased. While the effect is similar to that of its other austenitic stainless steel counterparts, the mechanical properties of this particular alloy become significantly higher. For one, the creep resisting properties of the ASME SA 312 Grade 321H Square Pipe see an increase.
In comparison to both grades 304 and grade 304L, the stress rupture properties as well as, the low-temperature toughness of the 321/321H Stainless Steel Round Pipe are much higher. Dual certification is possible for both grade 321 and 321H, due to its carbon content. The oxidation resistance of DIN 1.4541 Rectangular Pipe is highly appreciated as it can withstand an elevated temperature of 1500°F, without becoming prone to decay by oxidation.
