The UNS designation for Hastelloy C-22 is N06022. The main constituent of the alloy is nickel, which makes up about 56% of its total weight. Chromium and molybdenum added in the Hastelloy C22 Seamless Pipe alloy follow at 22%, and 13% respectively. The oxidation resistance of this alloy is excellent. And the C22 Hastelloy Hexagonal Pipe is especially resistant to aggressive aqueous media that could contain chemicals like wet chlorine as well as in solutions that contain nitric acid or oxidizing acids that contain chlorine ions.

The use of this alloy is recommended by Hastelloy c22 pipe suppliers, in instances where super austenitic or duplex stainless steel alloys are overwhelmed in the presence of media that is extremely aggressive. Another significant addition in the chemical composition of the ASTM B622 Hastelloy C22 Seamless Pipe is tungsten, which gives the alloy better resistance to uniform, in comparison to other alloys like alloy 625, or alloy C276. Tungsten also improves the resistance of ASTM B619 UNS N06022 Welded pipe to localized corrosion.

Chemical processing industries often have upset conditions, which require a durable material like WERKSTOFF NR. 2.4602 Pipe to construct their piping system. Generally, this industry is very likely to have both oxidizing and reducing conditions. Hence the term upset condition. The C22 Hastelloy ERW Pipe has the ability to resist decay from several acidic solutions including formic and acetic acids. Though this alloy has a nickel base, the use of Alloy C22 Round Pipe is restricted to 1250° F. At temperatures as high as 1250° F, it is highly likely that the alloy will form detrimental phases, which will eventually decay the C22 Alloy EFW Pipe.
