Specification ASTM F594 covers all four classes of stainless steel including austenitic, ferritic, martensitic as well as precipitation hardening. The ASTM F594 Stainless Steel Nuts may be produced by any one of the seven groups. All four classes of stainless steels have been classified into these seven groups. This specification also mentions the various condition the astm f594 nuts is to be supplied under. For instance in group 1, the ASTM F594D Stainless Steel Nuts may be produced from alloys such as 304, 305, 304L, 384, 18–9LW as well as 302HQC.
If the ASTM F594H Stainless Steel Nuts belongs to Group 2, the alloys include grade 316 and its low carbon-containing alloy 316L. Group 3 consists of heat resistant austenitic stainless steel alloys i.e. grade 321 and grade 347 ASME SF594 Dome Nuts. Group 4 consists of 430E which makes the ASTM F594G Stainless Steel Nuts. All four groups i.e. 1, 2, 3 & 4 are delivered in a cold worked condition. The alloy for group 5 & 6 ASTM F594 Hex Head Nuts includes alloys 410F & 431 respectively.
Fasteners like the ASME SF594 Barrel Nut from both group 5 & group 6 have been delivered in a hardened and tempered condition. Lastly, group 6, which consists of alloy 630 ASTM F594 Heavy Hex Nut, is delivered in an aged hardened condition. In addition to conforming to the mechanical properties, the F594 Stainless Steel Washers need to be subjected to tests that determine their chemistry, corrosion resistance as well as mechanical properties.
